I’m afraid,还是I’m scared?
大家是否纠结过这两个与“害怕”有关的英语短语?他们之间是否有区别?如何使用?
一定程度上,I’m afraid 和 I’m scared 用法相同
二者都可表示“害怕”
1.害怕某个东西(an object)或害怕某种情形(a situation)
I’m afraid of spiders. = I’m scared of spiders. 害怕蜘蛛
I’m scared of heights. = I’m scared of heights. 恐高
2.害怕某个活动(an activity)
I’m afraid of speaking in public = scared of. 害怕在公众场合演讲
I’m scared of dying. = afraid of 害怕死亡
3. 害怕将来的某件事(sth in the future)
I’m scared to go to the dentist. = afraid to 害怕看医生
I’m afraid to ask her out. = scared to 害怕约她出来
